Leslie Larson, MS, Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern
Leslie earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Ohio University and a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Memphis. After graduation, she sought specialized training, spending two years studying Gestalt therapy at The Gestalt Institute of New Orleans. Leslie holds certifications in Gestalt therapy as well as Hypnotherapy. Leslie’s areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, grief, difficulty regulating emotions, social skills, parenting, relationship issues, and life transitions. She provides support to children, teens, adults, and families.
Leslie offers a variety of therapeutic approaches to tailor each session to the individual client depending on age and specific needs. When counseling children, she brings fun and creativity utilizing play, sand tray, and art therapies to allow kids to express themselves in a natural, less intimidating way. In therapy sessions with teens, her focus is on creating a safe, non-judgmental, welcoming space where they feel comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions.
As a mother of two college-age daughters, Leslie understands the many pressures and fears that come with raising children. She emphasizes working in collaboration with parents and caregivers to create a village of support for the family as a whole. Her objective is to understand the child’s or adolescent’s experience while strengthening the connection between parents and their children.
